About the Role:

The Production Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing operations to ensure products are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with quality and cost requirements. This position requires a self-directed leader with strong electro‑mechanical manufacturing, operations management, and Lean experience, including the Toyota Production System (TPS), Schneider Performance System (SPS), or a comparable operating system.

The Production Manager owns execution of the production schedule and works cross-functionally with Planning, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, and Human Resources to resolve constraints and meet production start dates, completion dates, and customer delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and hold accountable production supervisors, team leaders, and employees while promoting a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Own daily and weekly production schedule execution, including labor allocation, material readiness, production priorities, output targets, and on‑time completion.
  • Proactively identify and resolve labor, material, engineering, quality, equipment, and capacity constraints that could affect production.
  • Lead daily production and tiered accountability meetings focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and staffing.
  • Oversee electro‑mechanical manufacturing activities, including mechanical assembly, electrical panel wiring, system integration, inspection, testing, packaging, and shipment readiness.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with drawings, electrical schematics, bills of material, work instructions, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Manage production performance through metrics such as schedule attainment, productivity, labor efficiency, first‑pass yield, rework, scrap, overtime, and on‑time delivery.
  • Lead Lean and Kaizen events using tools such as 5S, standard work, visual management, line balancing, value‑stream mapping, root‑cause analysis, and waste elimination.
  • Optimize production cells, staffing, equipment, material flow, floor space, and work processes to improve safety, quality, capacity, and efficiency.
  • Partner with Inventory Control and Supply Chain to ensure material availability, inventory accuracy, proper staging, and timely shortage resolution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely ERP transactions for work orders, material movements, labor reporting, production completions, and inventory adjustments.
  • Partner with Human Resources on hiring, training, performance evaluations, employee development, discipline, and termination processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety requirements, quality requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment, facility, and building‑maintenance needs with internal departments and external service providers.
Required skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 8 - 10 years of experience in industrial equipment, machinery, or electro‑mechanical manufacturing.
  • At least 5 years of production leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly, electrical panel wiring, system testing, and electro‑mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, bills of material, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles and leading Kaizen events within Schneider Performance System, or a comparable Lean operating system.
