If so, the City of Attleboro is looking for you to be the next Operator in Training at the Wastewater Treatment Plant! The Plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round; therefore, shift work is required, including 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m., and 12:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m. shifts. New hires will complete a 6–8-week training period on the day shift (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.) before being assigned to an off-shift schedule.

Duties include operates and maintains equipment including, pumps, filters, chemical feed systems, mixers, and traveling screens. Cleans pumps and sediment screens. Cleans building interiors and exteriors and performs general plant upkeep. Checks lift and grit stations. Open and shut valves, sluice gates, sludge gates and related equipment. Cleans tanks and equipment. Grass cutting and grounds work. Records daily readings and other relevant plant data, performs hourly inspections of plant equipment.

Receives bulk chemical deliveries. Performs pH, and chlorine residual and other minor lab duties. May be required to participate in City snow and ice removal programs. May assist in the marking of sewer lines and other “Dig Safe” activities. Performs related duties as required.

Entry level position. High School diploma or equivalent or one year of experience in a wastewater treatment plant. Ability to read and follow instructions and SDS sheets. Good basic math, computer and mechanical skills. Good communication skills. Valid driver’s license required. Must obtain a Grade 1M wastewater license within six months of employment. Must obtain a Grade 4M wastewater license within one years of employment.
