Location: Northern
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer / Lead to join our precision manufacturing team. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC equipment while leading day-to-day machining activities to ensure safety, quality, and on-time production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce parts that meet print specifications and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions to determine machining methods, tooling, and setup requirements.
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and/or CAM software to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and CMM equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Lead shop floor activities, prioritize work, and support production schedules to meet delivery commitments.
- Train, mentor, and support machinists and operators on setup techniques, safe machine operation, and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams on process improvements, fixturing, tooling selection, and new part launches.
- Maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling documentation, inspection records, and program revisions.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- 5+ years of machining experience, including CNC setup and operation in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of CNC programming experience using G-code and Mastercam.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience directing work, training team members, or serving as a lead machinist.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds and speeds, work holding, and tight-tolerance manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and inspection methods.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or trade school education in machining or manufacturing is preferred.
