Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment throughout the day to produce high quality compost and mulch.
Job Description- Essential Job Functions:
Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times - Perform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated daily
- Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfully
- Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product
- Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision
- Work overtime as needed
- Performs other duties as needed by direct supervision.
- High School Diploma and/or GED
- Must be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Bilingual – English/Spanish.
- Class A or B commercial driver’s license
- Acceptable driving record
Physical:
Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, & smelling continuously. Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously. Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, & wrist motion continuously.
Environmental:
Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions & noise continuously. Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally. Works outside only.
$26.05 - $29.49 per hour
