Summary:
The Inspector checks incoming raw onions to ensure they meet quality and safety standards before processing. This role focuses on identifying defects, sorting product, and supporting smooth production flow.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming onions for defects such as damage, rot, size differences, and other quality issues.
- Trim, repair, or remove defects using knives or other tools as needed.
- Discard product that does not meet standards.
- Sort onions by size and direct them to the correct processing area.
- Work with team members to keep product flowing consistently.
- Confirm raw product meets company and customer requirements.
- Report quality or food safety concerns immediately.
- Follow food safety and quality procedures (SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, SQF).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent preferred. Basic understanding of food safety and quality (training provided).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects.
- Ability to safely use knives or tools as required.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow standard procedures and work in a production environment.
