Senior Marketing Advisor

Join our team and help shape how we communicate with our community. This role provides the opportunity to work across a wide range of Council projects, delivering marketing initiatives that support meaningful outcomes for Ōtautahi Christchurch.

The Senior Marketing Advisor sits within the Communications & Engagement Unit in the Chief Executive’s Group. The team works together to deliver clear, consistent and effective marketing, communications and engagement activities across the organisation, ensuring our mahi aligns with Council strategies, supports business units, and meets the needs of our communities.

In this role, you will deliver end‑to‑end marketing plans and provide strategic marketing advice to business units across Council. You’ll work across traditional and digital channels, including social media, content marketing, SEO, email marketing, native advertising and marketing automation. Responsibilities include developing campaigns, managing owned channels, conducting market research, preparing marketing content, monitoring outcomes, and working collaboratively to ensure high‑quality, consistent marketing delivery.

As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor and lead other team members on projects and campaigns.

You will bring several years’ experience in marketing, including proven expertise across digital marketing and analytics, strong relationship‑management capability and experience mentoring other team members. and. You hold a tertiary qualification in marketing or a related field, and a current NZ driver licence. • Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
• Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $105,450 to $117,167 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
