The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation seeks a Senior Communications Officer to lead creative partnerships, advancing advocacy and storytelling goals through partnership development and execution. The role requires a strong network across media, entertainment, and creative industries.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity, is hiring a Senior Communications Officer for a limited-term position through December 2027. This role will lead the development and execution of creative partnerships, requiring an established network across media, entertainment, and creative industries. With a focus on advancing advocacy, storytelling, and audience engagement goals, the ideal candidate will have significant experience in partnership development and a strong understanding of partnership financing and budget development.

Overview

The Communications Division oversees the foundation’s global communications strategy, advancing the foundation’s mission to create a more equitable world. The division brings together internal and external communications to inform, inspire, and empower people around the world to advance the Global Goals.

  • Goalkeepers platform: annual data report, campaigns, global events, digital and traditional media outreach, champion building, and storytelling
  • SDGs: 17 global goals to make the world a better place, including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and clean water and sanitation for all
  • Leading the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of creative and cultural partnerships
  • Developing and managing a robust pipeline of partnerships, sourcing, cultivating, negotiating, and securing opportunities

The ideal candidate brings an established network across media, entertainment, and creative industries and can quickly activate that network to source, structure, and deliver partnerships.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred
  • Significant experience in partnership development, media, entertainment, communications, business development, or related fields
  • Demonstrated track record of securing and executing complex partnerships with media organizations, entertainment companies, creators, publishers, streaming platforms, or cultural institutions
