Job Overview

The Communications Supervisor develops, implements, and evaluates the Library District’s strategic communication, marketing, and branding initiatives to increase awareness, engagement, and support for the library’s mission. This role manages internal and external communications, produces high-quality visual and written content, and ensures consistent platform branding and messaging. The Communications Supervisor collaborates across departments to promote programs, services, resources, and events; oversees print and digital marketing efforts;

and leverages data to inform future strategies.

The ideal candidate is a creative, data-driven communicator with exceptional design, project management, and storytelling skills who fosters collaboration and builds community connections.

Essential Functions
1. Strategic Marketing, Communication & Branding
  • Develop and implement cohesive branding strategies to enhance the library’s identity and reputation.
  • Manage and enhance the Library District's communication platforms by coordinating and implementing effective social media strategies and email marketing campaigns.
  • Optimize SEO practices to maximize engagement and expand the district's audience reach.
  • Seek advertising and outreach opportunities and design promotional materials to spotlight library programs, events, resources, and services.
  • Ensure all communication materials align with established branding guidelines and maintain consistency across platforms.
  • Share district programs and events to community calendars and maintain public relations spaces within library facilities.
  • Establish, monitor, and execute crisis communication plans as needed. Oversee and manage the communications budget, ensuring cost-effective strategies for campaigns, promotional materials, and advertising.
2. Graphic Design & Content Creation
  • Design and produce visually engaging materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, social media graphics, newsletters, and advertisements.
  • Create and manage content for digital campaigns, including promotional videos, infographics, and email newsletters.
  • Capture, organize, edit, and share photos, videos, and patron stories to support campaigns and enhance storytelling.
  • Collaborate with departments on promotional merchandise needs, design graphics for orders, and manage routine purchases.
3. Data Management & Reporting
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of communication, marketing, and advertising efforts.
  • Use analytics from social media, email campaigns, and other channels to inform future strategies. Compile and present data for the Library District’s annual impact report, strategic plan, and other required reporting.
  • Monitor and adapt strategies for library programs, resources, and services to increase engagement, awareness, and attendance.
