The City of Winnsboro is looking for a creative, strategic, and driven Tourism Director who can turn what makes our community distinctive into experiences people want to discover, share, and return to.

This is more than a marketing position. And it’s more than promoting events. In tourism terms, we're after heads in beds and feet in streets.

That means developing marketing and destination strategies that put Winnsboro in front of new audiences, inspire overnight stays, increase foot traffic throughout our community, support our businesses and attractions, and ultimately generate measurable economic impact.

This is not simply a social media or event-planning position.

We want someone who thinks like a destination marketer,someone who understands how branding, advertising, storytelling, visitor experiences, partnerships, data, and a strong sense of place work together to influence where people choose to spend their time and their money.

• Builds genuine relationships with businesses, community partners, cultural organizations, and industry professionals.
• Is comfortable moving between big-picture strategy and the details required to make it successful.
• Uses data and results not just activity to measure whether marketing and tourism efforts are working.
• Sees possibility where others see "the way we've always done it."

THE OPPORTUNITY

• Increase overnight visitation and put heads in beds.
• Drive foot traffic and put feet in the streets.
• Give visitors compelling reasons to come, stay, spend, explore, and return.
• Position Winnsboro as a distinctive and desirable Texas destination.
• Develop marketing campaigns across digital, print, broadcast, outdoor, and other channels.
• Strengthen the visitor experience throughout the community.
• Build relationships with tourism professionals, businesses, attractions, cultural organizations, and regional and statewide partners.
• Use visitor, marketing, foot-traffic, and tourism data to determine what's working and what needs to change.
• Lead Winnsboro's participation in the Texas Main Street Program and Cultural Districts Program, strengthening the places and experiences that make our community worth visiting.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

We're interested in talent, creativity, leadership, initiative, and results, not simply checking boxes.

A bachelor's degree in Economic Development, Business, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred, and relevant professional certifications are valuable. Equivalent experience in a comparable role will also be considered.
