Job SummaryThe successful candidate will support the department’s marketing and communications efforts through strong professional writing, storytelling, and interviewing skills. This position will research and write engaging stories highlighting department events, activities, accomplishments of faculty, students, alumni, and other noteworthy happenings. Responsibilities will include interviewing alumni and members of the department community to develop stories that showcase the department’s impact and successes.
Written content may be published through a variety of outlets, including the department’s website, newsletters, and other university communications. The position will work closely with and assist the department’s current marketing staff member to support ongoing communications and storytelling initiatives. Because this role requires authentic, original writing and interviewing, AI tools may not be used to generate, draft, or develop written content.

Communication skills are key for this position along with expertise in Microsoft 365.

Preferred Education/ExperienceCommunication skills with experience in professional writing are key for this position and a valid driver’s license may be helpful.
