Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to join our Strategic Communications Team within AECOM. This is a hybrid role and will be based out of our Fort Myers, Florida office. In this role, you will be dedicated to supporting the public relations, community engagement, and integrated communications needs of a major infrastructure program working with other communications professionals and a technical team and will support other projects as needed.
The project is based in Collier County, Florida and will require weekly onsite presence at client's office.
AECOM Strategic Communications Services functions like a boutique public relations agency within the infrastructure and engineering firm. We manage communications projects for federal, state, local, and private sector clients in a variety of industries, including water, disaster and climate resilience, emergency management.
The ideal candidate is a communications practitioner with experience serving as a public information officer or community relations specialist on a project.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Developing and implementing communications strategies and plans.
- Serving a client account and interfacing with clients and project partners.
- Writing and delivering effective messaging via a variety of communications tactics.
- Creating web and social media content.
- Developing slide decks.
- Event and meeting planning.
- Occasional evening and weekend support of public meetings and events.
- Handling public inquiries.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field plus 4 years of relevant work experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
- Due to the nature of projects, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

- Ability to build collaborative working relationships and prioritize competing demands.
