About the RoleThe Content and Communications Manager supports Chattanooga 2.0’s mission by managing day-to-day content creation and communications execution, helping translate complex systems-change work into clear, engaging stories and resources for community partners, families, funders, policymakers, and the public.
This newly-created role combines strong writing and storytelling with hands-on digital communications, social media management, basic graphic design, website management, and campaign implementation. Working closely with organizational leadership (and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer), the manager will develop and maintain a consistent organizational voice and ensure Chattanooga 2.0’s work is communicated clearly, creatively, and strategically across channels.
This position is ideal for a versatile communications professional who enjoys balancing strategy and execution. The manager will own social media management, digital communications, graphic design, website updates, newsletters, campaign implementation and performance tracking, and storytelling across Chattanooga 2.0’s “Big Bets,” including early childhood, literacy, adolescent supports, and workforce pathways. The role will work collaboratively across our small team to ensure communications align with strategic priorities while maintaining consistent branding and messaging to build awareness and support for the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Content Creation & Storytelling: Write and edit social posts, newsletters, blogs, web copy, press releases, campaign materials, report copy, talking points, and partner communications; translate data and complex initiatives into accessible stories; maintain organizational voice and messaging consistency.
- Digital Communications & Channel Management: Own the social media calendar and publishing; manage website content and routine Word Press updates; manage monthly e-newsletter production; monitor engagement and recommend improvements based on performance.
- Design & Multimedia: Create polished day-to-day graphics in Canva for social media and print collateral; maintain templates and brand assets; capture or coordinate basic photography/video content; work with external designers, photographers, printers, or videographers when a project requires more advanced production.
- Campaign & Communications Planning: Build communications plans that align with organizational communications strategy for major Chattanooga 2.0 initiatives, reports, events, and campaigns; proactively identify stories and content opportunities across the organization; maintain an organization-wide content calendar.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, nonprofit leadership, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of communications, marketing, or digital media experience
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Experience managing organizational social media accounts and content calendars
- Experience designing materials in Canva or similar design platforms
- Familiarity with Word Press, email marketing platforms, social media scheduling tools, and using data from metrics and analytics to improve communications
