General

Summary:

The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing – Digital Content is responsible for creating and managing digital content that supports Glen Oaks Community College’senrollment goals, strategic priorities, and community engagement efforts. The position focuses primarily on social media strategy, storytelling, content creation, and audience engagement, while also supporting the college website as an information, recruitment,and marketing platform.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing, this position plans, creates, publishes, and evaluates content across digital platform sand works collaboratively with departments throughout the college to identify andtell Glen Oaks stories.

The position is expected to devote approximately 60% of its time to social media and digital content creation and 40% to website content and management. Regular on-campus presence is required, with occasional evening and weekend work for event coverage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage the college’s social media presence, including developing a strategic content calendar aligned with enrollment, academic programs, student experiences,workforce development, events, and institutional priorities.
  • Create, write, edit, schedule, and publish engaging digital content, including photography,video, graphics, short-form video, and written stories for social media and other digital platforms.
  • Identify and develop stories from across the college, including students, employees,academic programs, athletics, events, alumni, workforce development, and community partnerships.
  • Monitor social media channels, engage with audiences, coordinate responses when appropriate,and help manage the college’s online reputation.
  • Monitor social media trends, platform changes, audience behavior, and performance data and recommend opportunities to improve content and engagement.
  • Manage and update assigned website content, ensuring information is accurate, clear,accessible, current, and consistent with college brand standards.
  • Write and edit website content and create or optimize webpages and landing pages supporting academic programs, student services, recruitment, events, and marketing campaigns.
  • Apply SEO, digital accessibility, and user experience best practices when creating and maintaining website content.
  • Review website content regularly to identify outdated information, broken links, accessibility concerns, and opportunities to improve the user experience.
  • Collaborate with departments across the college to gather information, develop content,and support institutional and marketing campaigns.
  • Use social media and website analytics to evaluate performance and recommend content and strategy improvements.
  • Use AI and other digital tools to support content development, creative production,research, and workflow efficiency while following college standards and responsible-use practices.
  • Maintain the college’s brand, voice, visual identity, and editorial standards across assigned digital platforms.
  • Support college events and initiatives through digital promotion and coverage, including occasional evening and weekend assignments.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines and perform other duties as assigned.
