Location: Northern

Utah Film Center is looking for a natural-born storyteller to lead our brand. The Marketing Director provides strategic direction, leadership, and execution across all organizational marketing initiatives. In a fast-paced, high-energy environment, this role is for a results-driven leader who brings enthusiasm, initiative, and focus to achieving measurable audience growth, revenue targets, and national visibility. As our footprint expands, the Director will help to crystallize our value proposition and bring that story to life across every platform through a consistent brand voice.

The Marketing Director will lead digital storytelling through dynamic video and multimedia content. A core priority of this role is internal collaboration: the Director works closely with program staff, builds trust, and serves as an engaged partner to support their goals. Leading an internal team and managing external contractors, the Director oversees all marketing, branding, and video/digital promotions for film exhibitions, the Artist Foundry, and K-12 media education.

This is a full-time, salaried position based in Salt Lake City at our state-of-the-art new location in the historic Marmalade District. Standard working hours are 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for evening and weekend events such as festivals, premieres, and community screenings. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Marketing Director serves as a key executive partner, working collaboratively with all department heads to drive organizational strategy and dynamic brand growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Brand Architecture and Brand Voice: Crystallize Utah Film Center’s brand strategy and value proposition, ensuring consistency across departments and platforms.
  • Drive Measurable Results: Design, launch, and optimize high-energy, performance-driven marketing campaigns that expand audience reach, increase ticket and festival pass sales, and boost regional and national program participation.
  • Digital Storytelling & Video Strategy: Develop the overarching digital storytelling and video strategy for Utah Film Center, setting creative direction and priorities across platforms to strengthen the organization’s position as a creative hub and elevate the stories of local and global filmmakers, K-12 students, and the Film Center’s programs and events.
  • Expanded Footprint & Program Opportunities: Build ongoing awareness and market demand around the expanded resources, physical experiences, and digital offerings made possible by our new permanent home and national growth. Partner closely with executive leadership and development to design and execute high-impact strategies that introduce new donors to Utah Film Center, build enthusiasm around the opportunities our new home enables, and cement the organization’s long-term financial success.
  • Core Pillar Promotion: Develop and oversee integrated marketing strategies for the Capital Campaign, Film Exhibition, Artist Support, and Media Education, in collaboration with program leads and the Marketing Manager.
    • Capital Campaign: Partner closely with the Executive Director and development to design and execute high-impact strategies that introduce new donors to Utah Film Center, build enthusiasm, and highlight the cultural and community value of our new building.
