Overview
Do you have a passion for service and a desire to make a difference in communities? The Communities Thriving VISTA program invites you to serve at a college or university and contribute to positive change by partnering with nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. The program, part of a partnership with the IKONC consortium, focuses on poverty‑related issues and community outcomes.
The primary start date for these positions is 8/10/2026, with potential future opportunities in March 2027.
Twice a year, eighteen VISTA members will support the project’s goals by performing activities such as providing access to healthy food, planning job training and financial literacy materials, supporting sustainability initiatives, building mentoring programs for first‑generation college students, and organizing communities to help people move out of poverty. The specific responsibilities depend on placement and community needs. Current sites include:
