Connecting Creative Minds, Arts & Creative Opportunities and Jobs

GYOPO is an admired, values-driven, contemporary arts nonprofit organization. We strive to be thought leaders and to challenge our experiences of Korean diasporic culture as competitive, patriarchal, and hierarchical. By developing power-sharing processes and a culture of service and belonging we are working to build new expectations for Korean diasporic cultural work and community-building.

GYOPO seeks a highly-organized, responsible, and dynamic Philanthropy Manager who will strengthen our sustainability by managing our relationships with donors and audiences. Reporting to the Executive Director and working alongside the Deputy Director of Operations and Community Engagement and Senior Philanthropy Advisor, the Philanthropy Manager will help GYOPO pursue its mission: to organize free public programs and projects connected to diasporic Korean arts and culture in Los Angeles and beyond.

The Philanthropy Manager will play an essential role in building and maintaining contributed revenue growth through annual and campaign fundraising: including building and maintaining our CRM, drafting and deploying donor communications, developing a manageable donor portfolio across individuals, foundations, and corporations, prospecting, and event planning. Crucially, the position will streamline fundraising workflows and enhance donor relations. The Philanthropy Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Senior Philanthropy Advisor on strategy and direction, setting fundraising goals and designing a work plan to achieve goals.

In support of GYOPO’s financial sustainability, this position will establish effective systems and protocols to guide all stages of donor research, identification, and stewardship.

The Philanthropy Manager’s role will help realize GYOPO’s fundraising goals as outlined in our Strategic Plan (2025–2028) and Fundraising Strategy and Plan.

GYOPO currently has a staff of four: a FT Executive Director/Steering Committee Chair who began in 2022; a FT Deputy Director of Operations and Community Engagement hired in 2024; a PT Editor who was hired in 2025; and a PT Senior Philanthropy Advisor. GYOPO also engages several consultants to support and prioritize fundraising.

The Philanthropy Manager position is an opportunity to join GYOPO at an exciting inflection point. We are committed to mentoring the next generation of arts administrators, promoting emerging artists, supporting established artists, and working to expand the range of cultural experiences available to the LA-based Korean diaspora and the broader public.

GYOPO is an experiment in volunteer-directed, staff-enhanced power sharing. We seek a colleague who is:

Deeply motivated by service

Compelled by the challenge of furthering both horizontality and accountability in the organization structure

Self-aware, someone who values giving and receiving evaluation and critique

Excited to help build better processes within the organization and develop a sustainable and supportive working culture

Values an opportunity to inaugurate a new role, responsibilities, and processes at an exciting, growing organization

GYOPO is led by a Steering Committee, who jointly chair volunteer-run Committees (Communications, Development, Programs, Production, Identity/Design). This position requires working closely with staff, the Steering Committee, Communications Committee for key messaging around fundraisers and donation solicitation, and with the Design/Identity Committee on assets aligned with our brand, graphic identity and style guide.

Responsibilities:

Manage the complete cycle of contributions, including phases of prospect research, identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, gift processing and acknowledgments, and contact reports.

Support the build out of GYOPO’s CRM.

Add and update contact information in the CRM.

Maintain data integrity and ensure accurate records.

Track solicitation and engagement with prospective hosts, patrons, and sponsors within the CRM.

Donor Communication and Engagement:

Ensure donor lists on GYOPO’s website, print, and digital…
