FLSAJob Summary /Basic Function
The Food Sustainability Coordinator will assist the Sustainability Manager with the implementation of WSU’s food sustainability plan. They will also be responsible for serving as the president of WSU’s Food Recovery Network which reduces food waste by coordinating with Dining Services to have leftover food donated to the Weber Cares Pantry or local homeless shelters. Specifically, this position is responsible for the following:
- a. Take the lead implementing the food sustainability goals and objectives in WSU’s Sustainability Plan.
- b. Serve as WSU’s Food Recovery Network President: manage volunteers and coordinate with Sodexo, Lantern House, and Weber Cares pantry for food recoveries.
- c. Regularly engage with FRN National: attend events, be on the look‑out for grant opportunities, etc.
- d. Serve as WSU’s food sustainability committee leader: organize meetings, plan agendas, and send out minutes.
- e. Collect and analyze food sustainability data for WSU’s STARS report.
- f. Serve as the food sustainability Vice President within the Environmental Ambassadors Club: plan, recruit volunteers, and implement food sustainability-related events. Assist with the planning and execution of all other Environmental Ambassador Club events.
- g. As time permits, assist with WSU community garden management and work to make fresh produce available through the Weber Cares Pantry.
- h. Assist with Weber Cares Pantry marketing and education.
- - Must be a current WSU student with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- - Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and the Adobe Suite
- - Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to: technical writing, computer skills, public speaking, and oral presentation
- - Excellent interpersonal skills
- - Self‑motivated and organized
Due to the Affordable Care Act ( ACA ), individuals who have worked in a salaried capacity for Weber State University are ineligible to be hired as an hourly or adjunct employee at Weber State for six months.
