East Los Angeles Site - Los Angeles, CA 90023## Overview Salary Range $18.50 - $18.50 Hourly Level Entry Position  Type Part Time Job Shift Day## Description The Corps member implements the mission of the LA Conservation Corps by utilizing the opportunity given to him/her to develop technical and personal skills through educational and work program, which enable him/her to advance his/her own personal and career opportunities.

In doing so, a corps member creates strong ties to her/her community through community involvement and service; explores avenues for personal growth and development in a respectful and nurturing environment and develop leadership skills to contribute to the advancement of all people.
** ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
** The LA Conservation Corps (the Corps) is a private, non-profit organization that has been helping at risk young people develop themselves since 1986.  To date, more than 20,000 young people have participated in the Corps classes and service projects, learning new skills while contributing to the quality of life for all of us in the greater Los Angeles area.

* * We create equitable opportunities for young people to build resilience in themselves, their communities and the environment through a program of work, education and support.
** Essential Functions
**** Personal Development:
** Through self-motivation and with support, corps members work to fulfill their education, development and work plans by setting goals and objectives. Corps members work with their staff to achieve the skills necessary to improve their employability.
** Crew Work**:
Corps members are on their feet continuously during working hours. Extensive walking required. Corps member do very physical work that uses  both their lower and upper extremities continuously. Corps members work outdoors under adverse environment conditions for extended periods of time. Corps member plant trees, clear brush, construct and maintain trails, recycle, perform litter abatement, do landscape work and construction work.

Corps member must have the ability to work cooperatively as a team members and must be cable of performing assigned duties safely and effectively to avoid harming themselves or others with whom they come in contact. All corps members must work well with people of different ethnicity, gender and backgrounds.## Qualifications
