Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato, Kansas and Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norway, Kansas are seeking a pastor to serve our congregations through a joint call. Our current pastor of thirteen years retired on June 1, 2025, and we are prayerfully seeking a pastor to continue leading our churches in worship, discipleship, and outreach. Our congregations desire a pastor who will faithfully preach the Word of God, shepherd our members, and help us continue making disciples in our communities.

Mankato and Norway are rural communities in north-central Kansas with strong agricultural roots and close-knit families. Our area offers a quiet, safe, and family-friendly environment. We are located near several outdoor recreation opportunities including Lovewell Lake, Waconda Lake, and the Republican River, which provide excellent fishing and outdoor activities. Community life includes local events, youth activities, Bible studies, and Vacation Bible School programs that help strengthen the faith of our young people.

Local amenities include a movie theater, golf course, and public swimming pool.

This is a joint pastoral call serving both congregations.

Time allocation:

• 2/3 time – Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mankato
• 1/3 time – Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Norway

• Lead weekly worship services
• Conduct weddings (with council approval and premarital counseling)

• Provide at least one Bible study each week at each church
• Provide confirmation instruction for each congregation

• Participate in community life
• Build relationships within both congregations and surrounding communities
• Support youth ministry including Vacation Bible School

Conduct visits with:

• Elderly members
• Active members
• Community members when appropriate

• Attend church council meetings
• Maintain church records
• Coordinate ministry activities between both congregations
• Hold one day of office hours per week at each church

We are seeking a pastor who:

• Is grounded in biblical teaching and Lutheran doctrine
• Demonstrates strong pastoral care and leadership
• Enjoys working in rural communities
• Has a heart for discipleship and youth ministry
• Values relationships, community involvement, and family life
