Community Fundraiser - $20/hr Guaranteed + Bonuses - Boulder

Boulder, CO, US

$20/hr guaranteed + bonuses | 21-35 hours/week | Minimum 3 shifts | Boulder, CO

Looking for work that's social, active, meaningful - and doesn't have you sitting behind a desk all week?

We're hiring outgoing people to join our Boulder fundraising team.

This can be a great fit for students, performers, creatives, hospitality workers, recent grads, community organizers, and anyone who enjoys meeting people and wants a job where communication is a big part of the day.

You don't need fundraising experience.

What matters more is that you're comfortable talking with new people, willing to learn, and able to stay positive when not every conversation goes your way.

You’ll represent nonprofit organizations working on causes including environmental protection, humanitarian aid, human rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQIA+ equality, and social justice - helping turn everyday conversations into long-term support.

What the Job Is Actually Like

This is face-to-face fundraising , so you’ll spend your shift out in the Boulder community rather than behind a desk.

  • Start conversations with new people
  • Talk about important nonprofit campaigns
  • Inspire people to become monthly donors
  • Learn how to communicate confidently and persuasively
  • Work toward individual and team fundraising goals
  • Spend most of your day outdoors and on your feet
  • Get regular coaching from experienced fundraisers
  • It’s social, fast-moving work where you’ll meet a lot of people.

And yes - you’ll hear "no.".

Some people will be excited to talk with you. Others won't be interested. A big part of becoming good at fundraising is learning how to handle rejection, adjust your approach, and confidently start the next conversation.

If you like challenging yourself and can stay upbeat when things don't go perfectly, you'll probably have a lot more fun here than you would at a desk.

A Job That Builds Useful Skills

Fundraising is basically a crash course in communication.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Approach and connect with people you've never met
  • Tell compelling stories
  • Read a conversation and adjust your approach
  • Handle objections and rejection
  • Speak confidently about issues you care about
  • Work toward measurable goals
  • Receive coaching and put feedback into practice

Those skills translate well into careers in nonprofits, advocacy, communications, sales, marketing, education, public engagement, leadership, and plenty of other people-focused fields.

Experience in theatre or performance, hospitality, retail, customer service, teaching, camp work, campus organizations, advocacy, sales, canvassing, or community organizing can be especially useful here - but it is absolutely not required.

Schedule
  • Tuesday-Thursday: 11am-6pm
  • Friday-Sunday: 10am-5pm
  • Minimum 3 full shifts per week
  • 21-35 hours per week
  • Full-time and part-time schedules available
  • These are full 7-hour shifts , so you’ll need to be able to commit to the complete shift times above.
  • You’ll work at different fundraising locations around Boulder, so you should also be comfortable getting to different meeting points.
  • $20/hr guaranteed from day one
  • This is not a commission-only position
  • Performance bonuses on top of your hourly wage
  • Paid training
  • Ongoing coaching and development
  • Paid time off
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits for eligible employees after 3 months
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Mileage reimbursement opportunities for staff who carpool
  • Opportunities to grow into leadership
Who We're Looking For

You might be a strong fit if you:

  • Enjoy talking with people
  • Aren’t afraid to start conversations with strangers
  • Care about social, environmental, humanitarian, or human rights issues
  • Are comfortable receiving feedback and trying a different approach
  • Like being active and working outdoors
  • Can reliably commit to at least 3 full shifts each week
  • Are at least 18 years old
  • No previous fundraising experience is required. We'll teach you what you need to know.
A Job Where You Can Be Yourself

We want our teams to reflect the communities we work in.

We welcome people from different backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and we're committed to creating a workplace where people are respected - including their names, identities, and pronouns.

Accommodations are available upon request throughout the hiring process.
