Reports to: Pastor, in coordination with Founding Manager

Employment Type: Full time, (40 hours per week - Given the need to serve people after work hours, the hours for this position are imagined to be Mondays 12-8:30pm & Wednesdays 12-8:30pm, Tuesdays 8-4:30pm & Thursdays 8-4:30pm, and Sundays 9am-5:30pm or 10:30am-7pm)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Summary

Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish is looking to hire a Family Preparedness Coordinator and Co-Navigator for the Pope Francis Center beginning on September 20, 2026. The Pope Francis Center is an innovative legal services and community resource center focused on addressing evolving immigration needs through responsive, community-driven programs. Our goal is to identify gaps in immigration support and respond swiftly with creative, accessible, and sustainable solutions.

We aim to support community members in three distinct areas of ministry, with the overarching goal of accompanying those who are currently impacted by the immigration enforcement that is occurring in San Diego County.

The Family Preparedness Coordinator and Co-Navigator will be the third hire of this project and will be responsible for administering the family emergency preparedness program as well as assisting the FAITH Administrator and Co-Navigator in supporting community members who request our help.

Primary Responsibilities Co-Navigation Responsibilities: 40%
  • Assist with receiving people during walk-in hours and answering phone calls, Whats App messages, and texts from community members who are seeking support in a trauma-informed, compassionate manner.
  • Fill out basic “intake” for any first-time inquiries or document follow-ups as needed.
  • Accompany individuals as they share their stories and refer them to the appropriate resources as needed. Work with Co-Navigator to connect individuals to appropriate groups, services, or informational resources.
  • Work with manager, pastor, associate pastors, and other parish and center staff to continually discern and develop the direction of the center and its resources and programs, participating in project-brainstorming, troubleshooting, and resource creation for the center.
  • Be willing to learn about and connect with local grassroots efforts within and beyond the parish to respond to immigration emergencies. Build relationships with stakeholders, community pillars, and organizers in spirit of collaboration and solidarity.
  • Support program implementation of legal services. Refer individuals to in‑house screenings and consultations as well as workshops as appropriate.
  • Connect families with volunteers for community support
Family Preparedness Coordination Responsibilities: 30%
  • Upload all Family Preparedness planning materials, resources, and folders into the Pope Francis Center Share Point
  • Schedule families for 1:1 appointments for Sundays, Mondays, or Wednesdays
  • Train and schedule volunteers, overseeing the completion of each family preparedness plan
  • Connect families with external partners (family law attorneys, notary publics, etc.) as needed
Other Responsibilities:

  • Support with Nuestras Calles vigil coordination
  • Attend outreach events (resource fairs, community gatherings) to share PFC information with community members
  • Conduct outreach with local community partners to share information (schools, businesses, churches, etc)
  • Support regular tabling in front of the church on Sundays
  • Miscellaneous project support
  • Maintain ethical interpersonal and financial conduct with community members who receive services as well as community partners.
