The Ministry

Bibles For The World exists to be a catalyst for individual and cultural transformation through the power of God’s Word. Founded by Dr. Rochunga and Mawii Pudaite and now in its second generation of family leadership, the ministry shares the Good News of God’s love in Christ Jesus by serving the unreached, the Church, and Christian leaders in the developing world, with particular emphasis on India and surrounding nations.

That work takes several principal forms: strategic Scripture distribution through a network of trusted field partners;
Christ-centered education for children and young people through affiliated schools in Northeast India and the Partner Parents sponsorship program; music as both a discipleship pathway for students and a means of carrying the ministry’s story to audiences here and abroad; and compassionate outreach, including medical care, in the communities the ministry serves.

Position Summary

The Director of Development leads all revenue-generating activity for this approximately $5 million ministry and is responsible for the design, execution, and measurable growth of a comprehensive fundraising program. The role is both strategic and hands‑on: the Director builds the plan, personally carries a portfolio of major donors, stewards a long‑tenured and deeply loyal supporter base, and manages the staff, systems, and vendors that support the whole.

Success is measured by sustained growth in net revenue, strengthened donor and sponsor retention, and a broadened base of partners who understand what God is doing through this ministry and want a part in it.

Key Responsibilities Strategy and Planning
  • Develop and execute an annual and multi‑year development plan with revenue targets by channel, tied to the ministry’s field priorities and operating budget.
  • Build and manage the development budget; report performance against goals monthly to the President and quarterly to the board.
  • Identify and test new revenue opportunities, and retire efforts that no longer produce.
Major Gifts
  • Personally manage a portfolio of approximately 50 major donors and top prospects through a disciplined cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Give particular attention to longtime supporters with deep history in the ministry — many of whom came to Bibles For The World through its founding era and remain among its most committed partners.
  • Conduct face‑to‑face visits on a consistent monthly cadence and make direct, specific, project‑based asks.
  • Prepare and support the President, board members, and field leaders for their own donor conversations.
  • Design donor events and, where appropriate, vision trips that let partners see the work of Scripture distribution and Christian education firsthand.
Partner Parents Sponsorship
  • Own the growth and health of the Partner Parents child and student sponsorship program as a distinct revenue channel: sponsor acquisition, onboarding, retention, upgrade, and reactivation.
  • Ensure a dependable rhythm of sponsor communication — student updates, photos, correspondence, and progress reporting — recognizing that fulfillment quality is the single greatest driver of sponsor retention.
  • Develop pathways that move sponsors into broader giving and general donors into sponsorship.
Annual and Mid‑Level Giving
  • Direct the annual fund across direct mail, telephone, and print, including year‑end and other seasonal campaigns, in coordination…
