Brief Position

Description:

The WCA’s Marketing and Outreach team strives to increase the WCA’s presence in the community, working to educate about domestic abuse and healthy relationships and to share information with those who need our services, as well as preserve the integrity of the WCA brand and its historic presence in the community. The Marketing and Outreach Specialist will schedule and deliver informational awareness presentations to a variety of community populations, schedule and manage WCA involvement in community awareness events, collaborate with outreach volunteers, keep printed resources stocked in key locations throughout the community, develop marketing campaigns, and help maintain WCA social media accounts.

The position is unique due to the fact no day is ever the same and services tasks may evolve depending on the strengths of the candidate.

Day in Life of JV

For the Marketing and Outreach Specialist at the WCA, most days involve interactions with supervisor, staff, clients and community members. Awareness presentations to the community and tabling events happen several times per month, but vary based on scheduling and time of year. Responding to inquiries for information and outreach are common as well as helping to plan formal strategies to engage targeted populations and may include opportunities to facilitate translations, multi-agency collaborations, mass mailings and more.

Weekly tasks will also include checking in on social media engagement and helping to maintain and standardize WCA branding on all community-facing materials. Several times a week, conversations take place with supervisors, other staff and community partners regarding how we are engaging our target audiences, how to do it better, more efficiently etc.

Training in issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault is a plus. Comfortable with public speaking and presentations. Comfort with social media etiquette also preferred. Able to serve successfully independently and in a team environment.
