Pastor Colonial Village Church

This full-time position is for a visionary spiritual leader to partner, guide and shepherd Colonial Village Church as we reach out to our community to share the Good News of Christ with the vision that God has given us. This is a solo pastor position.

Colonial Village Church is a small, tight-knit community of faith outside of Niagara Falls, NY. Formed in 1943, Colonial Village Church has been serving the small community of Colonial Village for over 80 years. We joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 2015 after we were dismissed from the PCUSA with our property.

When our last pastor moved on to another call in late 2023, our session began the Revitalization process through our Presbytery. Working with the guidance of our coach, they developed a Vision for our church that we presented to the congregation and are diligently moving forward implementing. While we are an older congregation, we are actively engaged in ministry opportunities outside of the church with the Niagara Gospel Mission and The Potters Field Ministry (for local at-risk children).

We also partner with a Christian Counseling office that is located within the church. Worship on Sunday mornings is accompanied by active Ladies’ and Men’s bible studies before the service, and a Special Needs accessible Children’s Church during the service.

The ideal candidate will have a love for God and his Word, skilled in expository preaching and teaching, and a gift for encouraging the congregation to discipleship and evangelism.

• It would be expected that our pastor be an example of the ethical life that we are called to live in Jesus Christ. He/she should believe that marriage is a covenant only between one man and one woman and reject the world’s standards of sexual behavior now considered by many to be the norm.
• Within the congregation we expect the pastor to work with the various committees of the session and give guidance where needed. We desire that a strong relationship be developed with all church staff. We are looking for an individual who works well with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Our Pastor should be an effective communicator of the written and spoken word. He/she would be expected to plan and lead weekly worship along with the assistance of our current worship music leaders and provide sound biblical preaching.
• Hospital calls and home communions are a very important aspect of our church life and should be done on an as needed basis. The ability to find ways to interact with the members of the congregation is also an important attribute.
• He/she should also feel comfortable reaching out to the community and working alongside the men and women of the church in evangelism. A current example of such efforts would be helping to expand our relationship and work with Niagara Gospel Mission, located in Niagara Falls, NY.
• We desire that our next pastor would encourage and equip the congregation to use their God given gifts for ministry both in the church and in the community. We want to walk together with our pastor as we reach out into our community and do the work that Jesus is calling us to do.
• We believe that our pastor should be involved in the work of the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, especially with the EPC churches in the Western New York area. This would include being a part of the Western New York Ministry Network made up of other EPC pastors in our area.
