Job Overview
The desire of New Life Christian Alliance Church is to build a strong foundation to carry on a vibrant and thriving legacy of faith in Jesus Christ from one generation to the next (Psalm 145:4). We are a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and bi-lingual church community with two Sunday services (English and Chinese), governed under a complementarian, elder-led model. Our preaching style is expository, with God’s Word as the focus of both sermons and Bible study.
We share in the Christian and Missionary Alliance’s commitment to fulfill the Great Commission by supporting efforts to bring the gospel to all peoples at home and abroad.
The primary role of this position is to serve as the lead pastor, overseeing and growing the church’s ministry and vision. Core responsibilities include preaching and teaching the Word, and working collaboratively with the pastoral/ministry staff to disciple, shepherd, and counsel congregation members. This is a full‑time, exempt position with a salary that is commensurate with experience.
Job Description- Elder to the congregation. All pastors serve as elders in church leadership, alongside lay elders on the governing board. The Senior Pastor administers the ordinances (baptism and communion) and is involved in matters of church membership and discipline.
- Lead shepherd over pastoral staff and lay leadership. Provide oversight, guidance, and discipleship to ministry/pastoral staff; guides the governing board in implementing the church’s vision; and liaises between church and denominational leadership.
- Preacher and teacher to the congregation. Work collaboratively with the elders and pastoral staff to ensure the pulpit ministry is filled, and preaches and teaches weekly.
- Shepherd to congregation members. Work with pastoral staff and lay leadership to foster community, outreach, and discipleship — including organizing outreach efforts and coordinating small groups and Bible studies as the church’s vision requires each season.
- Counselor to congregation members. Build enduring relationships with members to understand their spiritual and physical needs, prays for them, and addresses spiritual concerns and corrections biblically. This may include presiding over weddings, funerals, and visitation as the need arises.
- Integral member of the church body. Worship regularly with the congregation, participates in church activities, and embraces the community as his own.
- Agrees with the Christian & Missionary Alliance statement of faith. ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
- (1) Has been licensed/ordained or (2) is qualified and willing to submit to the process of licensure/ordination in the Christian & Missionary Alliance denomination.
- Has obtained a M. Div. or Th. M from an accredited seminary.
- At least 10+ years of pastoral experience. Additionally, the pastoral experience must include prior pulpit/preaching responsibilities.
- Must be proficient in English. Additional languages are a plus.
- Exhibits the character qualities found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
- Committed to the Bible as God’s Word and the authority for Christian living above the values of tradition and culture.
