Laisar builds and operates hiring pipelines on large construction and infrastructure programs. We connect residents to careers in the building trades by working alongside training providers, apprenticeship sponsors, community organizations, and the contractors doing the hiring. Our teams have supported major transportation and infrastructure programs across the region, including work with general contractors on projects governed by project labor agreements and local hiring commitments.

This position supports a major development in Washington, DC. The program is designed to connect District residents to construction employment and long-term careers in the building trades.

This job happens in church basements, rec centers, and barbershops — not behind a desk. You will get the word out to District residents who have no idea these opportunities exist and bring them to the door. Success is measured by who shows up, so you need to know the neighborhoods and the neighborhoods need to know you.

• Plan and staff community information sessions in Ward 7, Ward 8, and other District neighborhoods
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, faith institutions, ANCs, and neighborhood groups
• Represent the program at hiring fairs, career fairs, and community events
• Conduct direct field outreach and recruitment
• Track outreach activity, attendance, and conversion to intake
• Gather community feedback and relay it to program leadership
• Support event logistics including scheduling, materials, and follow-up

• Two or more years in community outreach, organizing, recruitment, or public engagement
• Established relationships in DC neighborhoods, particularly Ward 7 and Ward 8
• Availability for evening and weekend events
• Comfortable presenting to groups and speaking with strangers
• Valid driver’s license or reliable means of moving around the District

• Ward 7 or Ward 8 residency
• Experience with workforce, reentry, or youth-serving programs
• Existing relationships with DC community organizations or faith institutions
• Bilingual English/Spanish

District of Columbia residency is required. This program exists to create employment for DC residents, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Applicants must reside in the District at the time of hire and maintain DC residency throughout employment. Residents of Ward 7 and Ward 8 are strongly encouraged to apply.

$55,000 – $68,000
