JCRC Associate Director

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), a department of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, serves as the primary community relations body for the organized Jewish community in Greater Charlotte, and increasingly across North Carolina.

The JCRC Associate Director is a new, full-time, externally-facing position funded through the JFNA Frontline Initiative grant. This role leads the Federation's day-to-day civic, government and interfaith work in Greater Charlotte: building and holding the relationships with local elected officials, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), interfaith partners, and community organizations that the Jewish community depends on. The Associate Director is a primary point of contact for these relationships and is expected to represent the Federation independently as experience and relationships develop.

In addition to leading the work in the Greater Charlotte area, the Associate Director supports the NC Statewide JCRC Director in executing statewide priorities, including the NC Jewish Coalition, statewide advocacy, and the expansion of proven Charlotte program models to other North Carolina communities, such as Outshine Hate.

The JCRC Associate Director reports directly to the NC Statewide JCRC Director and serves as a key operational and strategic partner in advancing the Federation's community relations, public affairs, and antisemitism response work. The role requires the ability to operate in a fast-moving environment that includes proactive relationship-building, program implementation, and coordinated response to community incidents, while maintaining a tone that reflects the Federation's commitment to partnership, credibility, and institutional leadership.

Greater Charlotte Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across Greater Charlotte, including K through 12 education systems and administrators, local elected officials, interfaith and civic partners, and community-based organizations and coalitions.
• Serve as one of Federation's primary points of contact with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) administrators on Jewish community concerns, including school-based antisemitism.
• Represent the Federation independently at Charlotte-area meetings, programs, and community events, briefing the NC Statewide JCRC Director as needed rather than requiring their attendance.
• Maintain the Greater Charlotte portion of the Community Mapping database, tracking relationship networks and engagement strategy.

Education and Program Implementation:

• Manage and implement JCRC and Outshine Hate programming in Greater Charlotte, including educator trainings and professional development, student and parent engagement initiatives, and community conversations and facilitated dialogues.
• Serve as a trained facilitator or co-facilitator for small-group discussions.
• Manage partnerships with organizations such as the Stan Greenspon Holocaust Center, Facing History and Ourselves, and other educational providers active in Greater Charlotte.
• Adapt program content for different Charlotte audiences, including schools, civic groups, and faith communities.

Antisemitism Response and Community Support:

• Manage monitoring and documentation of antisemitism and bias incidents in Greater Charlotte.
• Lead coordinated response efforts alongside partners such as law enforcement, the Secure Community Network (SCN), and school administrators.
• Implement JCRC response protocols for Greater Charlotte, including internal reporting and tracking systems, community communications, and follow-up engagement with affected institutions.
• Manage the Greater Charlotte Community Support Network for post-incident response.

Leadership Development and Outshine Hate Expansion:

• Manage and implement the Outshine Hate Leadership Institute in Greater Charlotte, including participant recruitment, cohort coordination and communications, and session logistics and materials.
• Manage mentor matching and participant engagement tracking for the Charlotte cohort.
• Support the NC Statewide JCRC Director in scaling proven Charlotte leadership models to a regional or statewide model, including the Jewish Civic Leadership Institute (JCLI).

Advocacy and Public Affairs:

• Track state and federal policy developments relevant to the Jewish community, in support of the NC Statewide JCRC Director.
