POSITION OVERVIEW

The Pacific Council on International Policy is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and detail-oriented Advancement Manager (A M ) to support the execution of the Council’s fundraising, sustaining membership, and organizational priorities. Working closely with the President & CEO and senior leadership, the successful candidate will serve as a key advancement partner, helping ensure the CEO is prepared, informed, and supported in cultivating donors, members, institutional partners, and other key stakeholders.

The AM will manage critical advancement functions including corporate, foundation, and individual prospect research; donor strategy and stewardship; executive briefing preparation; sustaining member billing; CRM management; and development operations. The role will also help translate executive priorities and conversations into clear next steps, coordinate follow-through across internal and external stakeholders, and ensure high-priority relationships and initiatives continue moving forward.

While primarily a non-frontline fundraising role, the AM should bring a strong understanding of fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, stewardship, and the development cycle, along with the judgment, initiative, and organizational skills necessary to anticipate needs and serve as a trusted partner to the President & CEO and senior leadership.

This is a hybrid position including in-person team meetings and events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prospect & Institutional Research

• Conduct high-level research to identify, profile, and evaluate prospective individual major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and other institutional funding opportunities.
• Build and maintain qualified prospect pipelines and target lists to support sustaining member recruitment, individual giving, corporate sponsor ships, and grant opportunities.
• Analyze prospect capacity, giving history, philanthropic interests, organizational affiliations, and existing relationships to identify opportunities for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Translate prospect and institutional research into actionable fundraising intelligence, providing the President & CEO and senior leadership with recommendations that inform donor strategy, relationship development, and engagement priorities.

CEO Partnership, Donor Strategy & Executive Support

• Partner closely with the President & CEO to manage and advance high-priority donor, member, corporate, foundation, and stakeholder relationships.
• Prepare comprehensive briefing materials for CEO donor and stakeholder meetings, synthesizing prospect research, giving history, relationship context, organizational priorities, and recommended talking points into actionable pre-meeting dossiers.
• Apply knowledge of fundraising strategy and moves management to identify and support cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship opportunities for individual and institutional prospects.
• Manage CEO donor engagement logistics and follow-through, documenting key decisions and commitments and coordinating timely next steps, proposals, pledge agreements, and stewardship activities.
• Anticipate advancement and external-relations needs, coordinating with internal colleagues to ensure the CEO has the information, materials, and support needed to move priorities and relationships forward.
