** The Director of Philanthropy Operations is responsible for directing the Florida Business Unit (BU) Development Operations Team in support of the annual Florida Fundraising Strategy as set by the Florida Director of Philanthropy and Florida Executive Director. The Director of Philanthropy Operations is responsible for co-creating a vision for the Philanthropy Operations team with the Florida Director of Philanthropy, directing all aspects of the four key strategic areas within the Florida development program;

donor engagement and events, donor communications, major gift management, and philanthropy operations (gift coding/research/administration/project management). They will manage a team that handles gift processing, fundraising and financial reporting, events and trips, research, prospect management activity, donor engagement and stewardship, volunteer management, and pipeline building. During fundraising campaigns, they collaborate with BU leadership and direct the operations of the BU’s comprehensive campaign, ensuring that the campaign operating plan, timeline, deliverables and desired fundraising targets are met.  

The Director of Philanthropy Operations will drive effective management and processes for all four areas of philanthropy operations with the overall objective of optimal support to maximize essential fundraiser time “out the door.” They will hold their direct reports accountable to achieve Philanthropy Operations measurable goals and objectives as set by the annual fundraising strategy and plan with the Director of Philanthropy.

Essential Functions:

The Director of Philanthropy Operations proactively works towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by designing, developing and coordinating plans and related tactics and overseeing all day-to-day tasks of development operations. They work closely with the Director of Philanthropy to set measurable goals and metrics for programmatic success, building a strong donor/prospect pipeline, increasing accountability and building a fundraising program that can meet and exceed market potential.

They manage a team responsible for principal and major gifts fundraising support, direct accurate and timely gift processing, and following processes to ensure maximum fundraising effectiveness. They oversee donor/prospect pipeline development and efforts to build strong principal and major gift portfolios. They manage prospect research, prospect assignments, fundraiser activity accountability and effective portfolio management. The Director of Philanthropy Operations aligns fundraising and program activities to ensure all prospect management and solicitation activities are coordinated, strategic, and donor-centered in approach.

They track fundraising progress, managing the production of reports for senior leadership on fundraising results and managing the annual department plan and goal setting processes.
