About Meetinghouse Church

In a world that is increasingly divided and despairing, we believe that a community centered on Christ has the ability to create healing and hope. Meetinghouse Church exists to create spaces where unlikely people cross boundaries to meet God and meet each other. We believe that when that happens, we’re transformed to be more like Jesus- we’re more humble and curious in our relationships, and participate in seeking justice and flourishing for the whole world.

Staff Values

As staff, we commit to upholding a culture that is

  • Centered in Christ
  • Created in Collaboration
  • Working Towards Wholeness
  • Expanding in Relationship and Empowering Others

We cannot practice healthy relationships with one another, or impact healthy relationships and systems in the world unless we are experiencing a healthy relationship with ourselves and with God. Therefore, Meetinghouse Staff are expected to:

  • Share a commitment to living out our core values in their personal lives.
  • Have regular rhythms for mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional health care.
  • Commit to ongoing learning, lifelong curiosity, and growing in humility.
  • Practice radical candor within trusted relationships, both sharing and receiving encouragement with respect, and critical feedback without shame or manipulation.
  • Practice keeping short accounts when relationships are fractured, refraining from triangulation or faction-building.
  • As we practice these things as a staff team, we expect it to also show up in the spaces we are creating in our ministries and the relationships we are cultivating with the members and attenders of Meetinghouse Church
Role Overview
  • Empowered to facilitate engagement with Meetinghouse’s mission and vision through creating spaces for students to cross boundaries to Meet with God and Meet with each other, and be Transformed to Meet with the World like Jesus.
  • Establish regular meeting rhythms for Middle School and High School youth programs.
  • Build a culture of Beloved Belonging for all students, where every student is known, seen and loved for who they are, and are equally valuable in the group.
  • Help students engage in Meetinghouse’s additional Core Values by giving them age-appropriate tools.
  • Wrestle with the tension in the Word and the world now and for the future through two-way communication and learning.
  • Immerse themselves in sacred spaces and rhythms, both in and outside of Meetinghouse.
  • Risk the messy path of faith by growing in emotional and spiritual maturity.
  • Do good for Christ’s sake by establishing a Christlike ethic of service and solidarity within the youth groups.
Development of Volunteers

Investing in volunteers to multiply trusted adults that students are in relationship with is key to successful youth ministry.

Development of Volunteers Core Accountabilities
  • Meet regularly with 3-6 adult volunteers to learn and collaborate towards the strength of the youth ministry at Meetinghouse.
  • Empower volunteers to lead in ways they are gifted so that students are learning from a variety of trusted adults.
Parent and Caretaker Relationships

Communicate with, learn from, and equip parents and caretakers for effective partnerships in discipleship of students.

Parent and Caretaker Relationships Core Accountabilities
  • Establish transparent, generative communication practices that encourage two-way learning and feedback with parents and caretakers
  • Develop Parent Champion teams for both middle and high school programs for building trust and collaboration.
Collaborative Participation in the Emerging Generations Team

Operating out of our shared commitments to relationships centered in Christ, created in collaboration, working toward wholeness, and expanding and empowering, this leader will actively participate in the Emerging Gen team.

Collaborative Participation in the Emerging Generations Team Core Accountabilities
  • Developing healthy relationships with team members.
  • Collaborating towards a Birth-Launch discipleship plan.
