Like Talking to People? Put That Skill to Work.Public Outreach is hiring Street Fundraisers to join our Los Angeles team.
You'll work outdoors alongside a team, speaking face-to-face with people about important humanitarian and social-impact issues and inspiring members of the public to support nonprofit organizations through recurring donations.
No fundraising experience is required. We provide paid training and ongoing coaching.
We're also hiring quickly. If there's a strong mutual fit after your interview,
you may be invited to a paid trial shift that same week.
As a Street Fundraiser, you'll work with your team in busy public areas throughout Los Angeles.
You'll:
Approach people and start conversations
Learn about important nonprofit campaigns and explain them clearly
Ask questions and build genuine connections
Share stories that help people understand why an issue matters
Inspire people to support nonprofit organizations through recurring donations
Work toward individual and team fundraising goals
Receive regular coaching to strengthen your communication and fundraising skills
Depending on the nonprofit campaign you're representing, your conversations could involve issues such as:
Humanitarian emergencies and disaster response
Food, clean water, shelter and medical aid
Communities affected by conflict or displacement
Global poverty and food insecurity
Human rights and equality
Support for children, families and communities
Long-term, community-led solutions
Campaign assignments can change, so we'll provide the training and information you need to confidently represent the organization you're working with.
Who Does Well Here? You don't need a particular degree or fundraising background.
We're looking for people who can:
Confidently walk up to someone new and say hello
Learn about complex issues and explain them clearly
Tell a story without sounding scripted
Ask thoughtful questions and actually listen
Speak passionately about something they care about
Confidently ask someone to take action
Take feedback and try a different approach
Hear "no" and move on to the next conversation
Experience in hospitality, retail, customer service, sales, theatre, music, education, advocacy, volunteering, public speaking or community outreach can translate especially well.
More than anything, we're looking for strong communicators who enjoy being around people and are willing to learn.
What the Job Is Really LikeWe want you to know what you're applying for.
This is active, outdoor, performance-based work
.
You'll spend much of your shift walking and standing, approaching new people and having conversations outdoors.
Not everyone will stop.
Not everyone will donate.
You'll hear "no" more often than "yes," and you'll work toward clear fundraising goals.
Your $20/hour starting wage is guaranteed - this is not a commission-only position.
We'll provide paid training, ongoing coaching and support from your team. You bring the energy, resilience and willingness to keep improving.
And you won't be doing it alone
- our fundraisers work alongside a partner or team.
We don't believe in making strong candidates wait weeks for a decision.
If you're invited to interview, we'll give you a realistic look at the position and answer your questions.
If there's a strong mutual fit,
you may be invited to a paid trial shift within the same week as your interview.
Your trial gives you an opportunity to experience the work, meet the team and see what street fundraising is actually like before moving forward.
