The Clinic Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on standards of care and professional nursing practice; accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered in an outpatient setting. The role includes working as part of the clinical team, following physician orders for care of patients, and performing related medical and clerical support functions.
Key responsibilities include accompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for exams, performing and documenting vital signs, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications with physician authorization, using CPR/BLS skills when required, drawing blood, and providing patient education regarding office policies, medication, disease management, home treatments, and special diets. Other duties may include retrieval of lab and x-ray reports, calling in prescriptions, telephone triage, obtaining referrals and authorizations, completing medical forms and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Ordering medical and office supplies, stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms and instruments
- Assess and document patient status, vital signs, and current medications during treatment visits
- Assist physician with all exams and procedures and treatments
- Report all patient information and any changes in patient’s health status to the physician
- Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
- Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations and complete other treatment and front office duties as assigned
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred - Clinical RN experience preferred
- Experience in a specialized field preferred
- Registered Nurse license issued by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation required
- Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association within 30 days required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified – American Heart Association preferred
