Job Summary
Registered Nurse – Newborn Delivery Team, Full‑time Night (Third Shift). Provides nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery and for the first two hours of life.
About the UnitThe Baptist Health Louisville Labor and Delivery Unit has 14 beds, 3 operating rooms, and an OB‑ED, delivering over 3,500 babies annually. The unit is supported by 24/7 anesthesia, a levelIII NICU that admits infants down to 26 weeks gestation, and an active Maternal Fetal Medicine department. Partners include four private‑practice obstetric groups and an in‑house OB‑Hospitalist group.
Responsibilities- Apply the nursing process to each assigned patient, from infancy to geriatric ages.
- Promote positive patient outcomes and deliver quality patient care.
- Collaborate with the inter‑professional team to enhance patient outcomes.
- Model continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
- Provide resuscitation support and primary newborn care during delivery and through the first two hours of life.
- Document nursing care accurately and promptly.
- Participate in hand‑off and shift communication.
- Assist with immediate post‑delivery care and stabilization of newborns.
- Educate patients and families regarding newborn care practices.
- Associate’s degree in nursing.
- Active Kentucky RN license.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Preferably two or more years’ experience in NICU, newborn nursery, or neonatal care.
