Job Overview
We are hiring for a Regular IDD Nurse (LPN) at RHA Health Services. The role provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care to persons with intellectual, developmental disabilities, mental health, and substance use challenges in residential homes or vocational centers.
Responsibilities- Assist the RN and professional staff in delivering quality nursing services.
- Administer specified medications and remove expired medications from circulation.
- Takes historical information and records vital signs.
- Observes patient mannerisms and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to supervisory medical personnel.
- Schedules and participates in service user and employee physicals.
- Provides primary nursing services 24 hours a day, 12‑hour shifts available, and after‑hours coverage on weekends and holidays on rotation.
- Assists with employee training on medication administration, CPR, first aid, and blood borne pathogens.
- Communicates with family/guardians regarding patient health status.
- Performs quality assurance checks and observations to ensure Direct Care Assistants are correctly monitoring health and safety in residential settings.
- Regular requires lifting 20 lbs.; must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.; pull minimum 25 lbs.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
- Must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.
- Required to stand and walk regularly.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in CPR, including work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
- Vision: close, distance, and peripheral vision.
- Must be able to talk and hear.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Valid state Licensed Practical Nurse certification.
- Minimum 1 year LPN experience; experience with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Ability to lift between 20 and 50 pounds and provide CPR after certification.
- Background check and drug screen clearance.
- Flexible schedule and availability for on‑call coverage as needed.
- Remain calm in crisis situations; EMR experience a plus.
- Excellent listening and communication skills; pick up on nonverbal communication.
- Eager to work on nonstandard nursing assignments.
