Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing health services in all schools to promote wellness and disease prevention by early detection of health problems that interfere with learning.
  • Participate in the implementation of School Health Policies and Procedures.
  • Identify pupils with physical, emotional, or mental health needs and work per protocol toward the solution of these problems by making referrals to appropriate staff or agencies.
  • Report to the School Health Coordinator, parents, school staff, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
  • Serve as a resource person to school personnel, pupils, parents, physicians, and various organizations.
  • Conduct initial assessments, interventions, and evaluations of students and/or staff members relative to illness or injury, maintaining appropriate medical treatment until authorized medication is obtained.
  • Assist with the program for handicapped or chronically ill students and aid in the appropriate placement of students with exceptional needs.
  • Perform specialized health procedures appropriate to the student's handicap and provide support to parents and teachers of these students.
  • Perform quality control evaluations on laboratory equipment and supplies used in schools.
  • Conduct special education vision screenings within ten days of receipt.
  • Document all visits in Infinite Campus or IMS.
  • Prevent and control communicable diseases.
  • Maintain a first aid station in all schools.
  • Conduct routine screening procedures according to school board policy and state mandates.
  • Work on exclusion and readmission of students with infections and contagious diseases as outlined in board policy.
  • Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary conditions.
  • Attend committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and curriculum when appropriate.
  • Assist families in making appropriate social agency contacts when necessary; work with various health agencies in the community to implement health services.
  • Follow district policy in the investigation of physical or sexual abuse and neglect.
  • Adhere to district policy regarding confidentiality of all student health matters and records.
  • Review medication logbooks to ensure compliance with district policies at assigned schools.
  • Collect data for quality assurance: accident reports, student injuries, medication errors.
  • Travel to different school locations as assigned, which may include different cities or towns.
  • Adapt quickly to new school environments, work cultures, and patient care practices in each location.
  • Provide seamless coverage during staff shortages or vacation periods, ensuring that all clinical areas are properly staffed and operational.
  • Work with diverse healthcare teams, including physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and administrative staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with clinic managers and healthcare providers at each location to ensure a cohesive approach to patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with health agencies, professionals, and children.
  • Willing to provide services outlined in the Kentucky Department of Education Health Services Reference Guide.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Maintains required continuing education courses.

Compensation:
Negotiable based on experience.

Schedule Requirements
  • Full-time position, 5 days per week, 100% clinic-based, in person work required.
  • Work schedules are set at the discretion of CFMC and may be adjusted at any time based on the operational needs of the organization.
