State Registered Nurse Aide - SRNA / CNA

Position Overview

The SRNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands‑on nursing care to ambulatory and non‑ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The SRNA is also responsible for assisting the residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the resident with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Respond to resident call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.
  • Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to areas of the community (dining room, lobby and activities).
  • Report any significant findings/observations to the nurse immediately.
  • Assist residents on admission, transfer and discharge to make a smooth transition.
  • Safekeep residents’ personal possessions.
  • Keep resident rooms neat and safe.
  • Follow proper infection control techniques.
  • Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
  • Re‑teach resident to perform ADL skills.
  • Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures and complications.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and ensure follow‑up occurs.
  • Converse with resident and family; assist them with adjustment to the community.
  • Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of residents; report deviations from norm to the charge nurse promptly.
  • Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output and weights accurately.
Qualifications
  • Certified and state‑tested as a State Registered Nurse Aide in the state of employment; certificate must be active, valid and in good standing.
