In collaboration with a physician, diagnoses and treats certain acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations.
Responsibilities- Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
- Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies.
- May be required to perform preventative health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and care.
- Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
- Provides care in the context of promoting age and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision‑making, and the right to self‑determination.
- Provides accurate and timely documentation of assessment and patient care plan.
- May coordinate the registration functions including collecting and entering demographic, insurance, employer information, and co‑payments.
- Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Works under direct supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- No work experience required.
- Master's degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire.
- RN – Licensed as a Registered Nurse, eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire.
- APRN – Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification from American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification from American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACCN) required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification from National Certification for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCCCOGN) required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification from Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) required upon hire.
- APRN – National certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from National Certification Corporation (NCC) required upon hire.
