Position Overview
Spero Health is seeking an Addiction Medicine Physician or Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Barbourville, KY! The anticipated schedule for this position is Mondays and Fridays from 8 am ET - 4:30 pm ET.
This position is for an Addiction Medicine Physician or Nurse Practitioner with the ability to prescribe buprenorphine to fulfill our mission of "Saving Lives, Instilling Hope, and Restoring Relationships" to those suffering from substance use disorder. We provide local and affordable outpatient care primarily to those suffering from opioid addiction, operating as one of the largest Office Base Opioid Treatment (OBOT) providers in the country.
Spero Health utilizes an innovative evidence‑based integrated care model that combines both physical and behavioral healthcare services under one roof to treat the whole patient. We offer medication‑assisted treatment along with counseling and case management within our facilities to provide a comprehensive level of care, while our community‑based approach allows patients to continue working and caring for their families as they overcome addiction.
Responsibilities- Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance‑related health conditions.
- Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services.
- Provide education regarding illness and prognosis to assist with clarification of patient and family goals of care and support development of a comprehensive care plan.
- Interpret test results to diagnose any health issues and provide feedback to patients.
- Educate and counsel patients regarding medication compliance.
- Work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to administer the best care for patients who need both medical therapy and behavioral health services.
- Conduct patient follow‑up visits regarding progress with medication and/or treatment.
- Contact patient's PCP and/or specialists when necessary.
- Evaluate lab results and provide consultation with APPs regarding abnormal results.
- Review and oversee progress and treatment plans, making adjustments as needed.
- Maintain required licensure, certifications and CME credits.
- Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician or nurse practitioner within the applicable state.
- Experience providing addiction medicine services for both medically and socially complex populations; managing complex substance use disorders.
- Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.
- Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in state(s) where applicable.
- Ability to work on‑site with diverse care teams in a variety of settings.
- Effective time management and communication skills.
- Computer‑literate and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
