* * Provides nursing leadership for a nursing unit/department during assigned shift.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Supervisor position in our Emergency Department.

This is a full time, exempt position with a weekday schedule with variable hours (including some evening requirements), and will include call. The ED Supervisor will work in Waterville & Augusta at both the Thayer and Alfond Center for Health campuses.
** The Work:
*** Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Responds to staff requests for assistance with providing or managing direct patient care in complex or difficult matters.
* Determines, coordinates, and monitors the flow of patients between units to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet service level objectives.
* Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Coordinates patient care services with staff, physicians, and other departments.
* Responds to complaints/conflicts and manages through established channels. Makes administrative decisions in the absence of the Department Manager/Director.
** You Have:
*** Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain same in a timely fashion, required
* BSN, preferred
* Clinical expertise in ED nursing or Intensive Care nursing, with at least 5 years as staff nurse with supervisory/charge nurse experience, preferred
* Excellent leadership, effective communication and autonomous critical thinking skills
* Ablility to deal with complex management problems and communicate with staff & physicians in a collaborative fashion
* Ability to build rapport by working along-side staff as needed
