** Job Summary
** The Outpatient/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient procedures and same-day surgeries. Responsibilities include preoperative assessment and preparation, Phase I post-anesthesia recovery, patient monitoring, medication administration, patient education, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
** Essential Responsibilities
*** Perform preoperative assessments and prepare patients for procedures.
* Provide Phase I PACU care, including monitoring airway, vital signs, pain management, and recovery from anesthesia.
* Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
* Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
* Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and discharge instructions.
* Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
* Follow all hospital policies, infection prevention practices, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety standards.
** Qualifications
* ** Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred.
* Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license.
* Previous outpatient surgery, ambulatory care, PACU, or related nursing experience preferred.
* Current BLS required.
* PALS required.
* ACLS required within six months of hire.
** Physical Requirements
** Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform routine patient care activities requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
