Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Orthopedic team in Jackson, CA.

Sutter Medical Group is seeking a motivated and collaborative Advanced Practice Clinician to support a growing orthopedic surgery program serving patients throughout Amador County and the surrounding foothill communities. This position offers a unique blend of clinic, surgical, and inpatient responsibilities while working closely with experienced orthopedic surgeons and an established care team.

Position Details
  • 0.5 FTE benefited position (18 hours per week)
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Mix of outpatient clinic, surgical assistance, and hospital-based care
  • Approximately 40% clinic, 35% operating room, and 25% inpatient rounding responsibilities
  • Opportunity to work with both elective orthopedic and hospitalized orthopedic patients
  • Expected patient volume of 10 to 20 patients per day
Clinical Responsibilities

The APC will play an integral role in the management of orthopedic patients across the continuum of care, including:

  • Performing comprehensive patient evaluations
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans
  • Conducting pre-operative assessments
  • Providing inpatient orthopedic care and hospital rounding
  • Managing post-operative follow-up visits
  • Assisting orthopedic surgeons in the operating room
  • Writing and managing pre-operative and post-operative orders
  • Monitoring patient recovery and identifying complications
  • Evaluating new and established patients as well as hospital follow-up and post-surgical visits
Team and Support

The selected candidate will join a highly collaborative orthopedic team and receive mentorship and support from experienced physicians and advanced practice clinicians.

Requirements

Nurse Practitioner

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • California NP license or eligibility
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • DEA certification or eligibility
  • Must have RNFA certification

Physician Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • California PA license or eligibility
  • NCCPA certification
  • DEA certification or eligibility
