UPMC Hamot is seeking a Full-Time Senior Professional Staff Nurse to join our Outpatient Cardiac Cath Lab team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, specialized outpatient setting.

About the RoleThe Senior Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a key member of the care delivery team. This role is responsible for setting standards for the level and quality of care provided to patients and is accountable for the delivery of professional nursing care.
The Senior Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members. This role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision while fostering strong relationships with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, and families to achieve optimal patient outcomes across the continuum of care.
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum of two years of nursing experience
- Previous cardiac nursing experience strongly preferred
- Monday through Friday
- Four 10-hour shifts (rotating schedule)
- No weekends
- No holidays
Title and compensation will be determined based on education, certification, and relevant experience.
Responsibilities- Serve as a clinical leader and role model for professional nursing practice through demonstrated expertise, mentorship, and evidence-based care. Promote a positive practice environment by providing constructive feedback, supporting professional growth, and participating in nursing peer review activities.
- Utilize the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care principles to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Develop individualized plans of care, establish daily patient goals, and partner with patients and families to support optimal outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, advocate for patient needs, and promote continuity across the care continuum.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to assess and address patients' clinical, psychosocial, safety, and educational needs.
- Create a compassionate and healing environment by fostering meaningful relationships with patients, families, and colleagues while promoting an exceptional patient experience.
- Support the development of future nursing professionals by precepting students, graduate nurses, and new team members, and by contributing to educational and professional development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes, workplace processes, and care delivery through quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice.
- Participate in shared governance activities, interdisciplinary teams, councils, and committees that promote nursing excellence and organizational goals.
- Foster a healthy work environment through collaboration, professionalism, cultural awareness, and mutual respect among colleagues.
- Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with UPMC policies, professional nursing standards, and system-wide competencies and behaviors.
