The Clinical Care Coordinator (CCC) serves as the supervisory assistant and assists in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating nursing services of their unit under the supervision and direction of the Nurse Manager. The CCC must have the ability to communicate effectively, positively manage change and conflict, analyze and draft policies and procedures and apply productive problem solving skills. They are expected to be compassionate with a sharp presence of mind, an excellent leader and an alert individual who can make decisions based on rationale thoughts.
Specific day to day tasks may include assisting with patient care, communicating with various health care professionals, assisting nursing staff with various problems, resolving patient complaints, assisting with scheduling, reviewing charts, and assisting in training and educating staff.
- Assists in the development, revision, review, implementation and education of policies and procedures according to evidence-based practice.
- Assists with unit scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and smooth work flow. Works on the unit as Charge Nurse or in direct patient care at least 50% of the time.
- Implements and communicates corrective action as needed. Seeks input from staff regarding supplies and equipment and offers input to the Nurse Manager on the annual budget.
- Rapidly assess patients' conditions upon arrival, prioritizing care based on acuity and severity of illness or injury.
- Utilize established triage protocols to determine the appropriate level of care and resource allocation.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, following established protocols and guidelines. Initiate and maintain intravenous lines, administer fluids, and manage blood products as needed.
- Perform and assist with a variety of emergency procedures, including intubation, defibrillation, wound care, and splinting.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
- Trauma Nurse Core certification within 1 year of hire
- Experience in an emergency department or critical care setting preferred
- 2-3 years of nursing experience preferred
