Position Summary Information
Position Purpose
The Simulation Center (SC) Nurse Instructor is responsible for assisting nursing students in the development of clinical psychomotor and clinical decision-making skills. The primary activity is providing and supervising skill demonstrations, practice time and validation of the student’s ability to perform the skills. The Nurse Instructor will also facilitate critical thinking and clinical experiences through simulation scenarios. Other tasks include maintaining inventory and maintenance of the lab equipment.
Description of Duties
Sim Center (SC) Nurse Instructor Assist students in the development of psychomotor clinical skills. Verify that students can demonstrate proper technique and understanding of clinical skills. Assure that clinical skills are consistent with standards of nursing practice. Act as a resource person and supervise undergraduate managers and/or graduate assistants in the SC. Make recommendations for changes in SC skills based on evidence-based practice. Offer direction/support/resources to students for successful completion of required skill demonstrations.
Collaborate with faculty regarding student competencies. Maintain ongoing communication with SC student managers, graduate assistants, nursing students, department chair, SC director and other Nurse Instructors. Document and validate effectiveness of student demonstrations. Maintain the SC in terms of safety,physical appearance, and neatness. Assist with annual inventory of supplies.
Enforce security of SC facility. Ensure maintenance of clinical equipment, materials, and resources including the computers. Promote the professional development of students.
