Role SummaryThe Pre-Admission Testing RN conducts comprehensive preoperative assessments to ensure patients are medically optimized and fully prepared for procedures. This role verifies required testing, identifies potential risks, coordinates with anesthesia and surgical teams, and supports patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the pre-admission process.
Hours- Monday - Friday schedule
- No nights, weekends, holidays, or call
- Perform thorough pre-admission nursing assessments, including medical history review, physical evaluation, and verification of required testing
- Identify abnormal results and communicate findings to anesthesia and proceduralists
- Ensure all pre-op documentation is complete, accurate, and available prior to procedure
- Educate patients and families on the perioperative experience, expectations, and care instructions
- Support patient safety, risk-management, and quality-improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with anesthesia, proceduralists, and perioperative staff to ensure consistent patient information and readiness for procedures
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and age-appropriate care
- Participate in staff education, orientation, and ongoing professional development
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling needs and assist in adjusting workloads as needed
- This position will cross train to other areas within the center, including Pre-op, PACU, and/or procedure room.
- Active RN license in Ohio
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Associate’s degree or higher in nursing
- Pre-op, PACU, or critical-care experience preferred
- Strong assessment skills, communication abilities, and patient-advocacy focus
- Comfort using EMR systems and Microsoft Windows-based programs
Work Environment Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and patient-care activities
- Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs (occasionally up to 40 lbs; rarely up to 100 lbs)
- Regular interaction with patients of varying ages in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards consistent with the procedural setting
- Moderate noise typical of clinical and administrative areas
