Make a Difference in Infection Prevention & Resident Safety

Plaza Healthcare is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse – Infection Prevention Nurse to join our clinical leadership team. In this important role, you will lead and oversee our infection prevention and control program while partnering with nursing, therapy, dietary, environmental services, and other departments to promote a safe, healthy environment for our residents and staff.

Plaza Healthcare is a 179-bed skilled nursing facility in Scottsdale known for providing specialized post-hospital care and serving residents with complex medical needs. Our specialty services include ventilator and tracheostomy care, dialysis, wound care, and rehabilitation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Direct and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
  • Monitor, investigate, and track infections and communicable diseases.
  • Conduct infection surveillance and identify trends, potential outbreaks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement infection prevention interventions based on identified risks and trends.
  • Maintain accurate infection prevention records, reports, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local infection prevention requirements and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams regarding infection prevention practices and resident care.
  • Conduct regular infection prevention rounds and audits throughout the facility.
  • Monitor hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation precautions, environmental practices, and other infection control measures.
  • Provide education and competency training to employees related to infection prevention and control.
  • Participate in outbreak investigations and coordinate appropriate response measures.
  • Review antibiotic utilization and support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
  • Assist with employee health and communicable disease prevention activities as applicable.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to infection prevention.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and infection prevention reviews.
  • Keep current with infection prevention standards, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current Infection Prevention and Control Certification required.
  • Previous nursing experience in a skilled nursing, long-term care, acute care, or other healthcare setting.
  • Experience with infection prevention and control.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles, surveillance, isolation precautions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, documentation, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address infection prevention risks.
