POSITION OVERVIEW

The School Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing health services to students for Berea City School District. Working in collaboration with educators, administrators, and families, the school nurse serves as the primary healthcare resource within the school community — promoting wellness, managing chronic conditions, responding to acute needs, and ensuring students are healthy and ready to learn.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess and triage student health concerns; administer first aid and medications per protocol
  • Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs)
  • Manage chronic health conditions including asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, and allergies
  • Conduct required health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, scoliosis)
  • Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA
  • Communicate with parents, physicians, and school staff regarding student health needs
  • Provide health education to students, staff, and families
  • Support 504 and IEP teams with health-related accommodations
  • Respond to building-level health emergencies and coordinate with EMS as needed
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) where applicable
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio
  • School nursing experience or pediatric/community health background preferred
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school setting
  • CPR/AED certification required (or willingness to obtain)
LICENSURE

Current Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Ohio Department of Education School Nurse License or willingness to obtain preferred.

Salary:

$25-$27/hour
