Description:
This position is for a registered nurse in the operating room. The nurse will work with all service lines except cardiovascular. Experience in trauma and general surgery is required. Cerner experience is preferred. There are 23 operating rooms available. The position requires on-call duty, typically 1 time per week. Weekend shifts include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The facility may call off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without paying for canceled hours.
If more than 36 hours are canceled, payment will be required for those additional shifts. Clinicians must float within their skill set but this rarely occurs. Travelers are expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays. All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by management. The role will involve working with various surgical specialties and a diverse patient population.
Specific case skills must include, but are not limited to, requirements in neurology, orthopedic, plastic surgery, trauma, and transplant experience. Familiarity with equipment such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources is essential. The role also includes emergency management skills for scenarios such as code response and fire safety. Successful candidates must be committed to infection control and universal protocol procedures.
