Description

American Traveler is hiring an Operating Room RN with a CA license for a community hospital setting requiring circulating experience across multiple surgical specialties and on-call availability.

Details
  • Operating Room unit in a community hospital setting
  • Day shift, 4x10 hours, 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Circulating experience required across General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), and Plastic Surgery
  • Case types include hysterectomies, C-sections, joint replacements, spinal fusion, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, and TURP
  • Utilizes Da Vinci Xi Surgical System for robotic cases
  • Uses electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana table
  • Epic charting system preferred
  • Call requirements include overnight weekday call, 24-hour weekend call, and 24-hour holiday call
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience in a community hospital or Trauma Level II facility required
  • Minimum 2 years of circulating experience in a community hospital setting required
  • Conscious sedation monitoring experience required
  • Community hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills in laser safety preferred
  • Experience with abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy and C-sections required
  • Recent Nysys license verification and 2 professional references obtained within the last year required
Additional Information
  • Responsibilities include circulating duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including general, orthopedic, urologic, gynecologic, and robotic procedures
  • Skills applied include infection control, universal protocol (time out) procedures, specimen handling/labeling, blood product administration, and urinary catheterization
  • Must be prepared for emergency management including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius
  • Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Must be available to complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • First-time travelers are not specified as accepted for this role
