Golden Merced Care Center in Merced, CA, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to assume responsibility and accountability for a group of residents/patients during an assigned shift. The ideal candidate provides quality nursing care, adheres to applicable standards of care, maintains resident/patient safety, and supervises resident/patient care activities.

• Makes frequent rounds to monitor resident/patient conditions and ensure nursing personnel are performing their assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.

• Gives and receives nursing reports at the beginning and end of each shift.

• Ensures assigned work areas, including the nurse station, medication cart, and medication room, as well as resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas, are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.

• Monitors supplies and orders as needed.

• Follows all policies and procedures and performs duties in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act.

• Reviews care plans at least daily to ensure appropriate care is being provided.

• Notifies the Director of Nursing and/or Resident Care Manager of changes in resident/patient condition.

• Receives and transcribes physician orders to resident/patient charts, Kardex/Care Plan A, Medication Administration Records (MAR), and treatment/care plans as required.

• Prepares and administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by the physician.

• Documents all pertinent information as required by Medicare, Medicaid, and company standards and policies.

• Counts controlled substances with another nurse at shift change and notifies the Director of Nursing and/or Resident Care Manager of any medication or narcotic discrepancies noted during the shift.

• Keeps the medication room and medication cart locked in accordance with applicable regulations and is responsible for the security of medication keys.

• Follows and adheres to policies and procedures implementing HIPAA requirements for the privacy and security of protected health information.

• Must possess a current RN license in good standing.

• Must have at least 1 year of experience as a supervisor in a healthcare setting.

• Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.

• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to nursing care facilities.
